Terms of use

These terms cover the Replayink browser extension, the pages it publishes for you, and this website. By installing the extension or publishing a recording, you agree to them.

The short version: use Replayink for anything lawful. What you make is yours. What you publish is public to anyone with the link, so only publish what you have the right to share. The extension is free and comes with no guarantees.

1Using Replayink#

Replayink is free for personal and commercial use. You may install it on as many browsers as you like and use it on any site you are allowed to view. You also agree to the terms of the store you installed it from.

You may not use Replayink to break the law, to get around a site's access controls, or to interfere with the service itself — for example by overloading the publishing service or using it to host files that are not part of a recording.

2What you make is yours#

Your annotations, notes and recordings belong to you. Almost all of it never leaves your computer (the privacy policy explains exactly what does), and we claim no rights over any of it.

When you publish a recording, you give us permission to store it and to show it to anyone who opens its link — only while it stays published, and only to run the service. Unpublish it and that permission ends.

3What you publish is your responsibility#

A published recording is a public web page. Anyone with the link can open it, and links get passed on. Before you publish, make sure you have the right to share everything in it.

Do not publish recordings that contain:

  • Other people's personal data, private messages or account details, unless they agreed to it
  • Passwords, API keys, access tokens or any other secret
  • Material you do not have the right to share, including confidential work material
  • Anything illegal, including content that infringes someone's copyright or trademark
  • Malware, phishing, or anything designed to deceive the person who opens it
  • Harassment, threats, or sexual content involving minors

A recording made inside a logged-in account can capture things only you were meant to see. Section 3a of the privacy policy explains how, and what to check before you publish.

Replayink replays the pages you recorded, with their layout and branding. Do not use it to present a copy of someone else's site as the real thing.

4Removing published recordings#

You can unpublish a recording at any time from the recording player. Its page and uploaded files are deleted and the link stops working.

We may remove a published recording, or suspend the account that published it, if it breaks these terms or we receive a valid legal request about it. Where we can, we will tell you why. To report a published recording, email the address at the end of these terms with its link.

5Accounts#

Publishing creates an anonymous account tied to your browser, and you can add an email address to use it on another computer. You are responsible for what is published from your account. If you lose the browser and never added an email address, we may not be able to give you back control of what it published.

6The service can change#

Replayink is made by one person and provided free. Features may be added, changed or removed. Hosted share pages depend on third-party services and may sometimes be unavailable. If the hosted pages are ever shut down, we will try to give notice first, so you can export what you need.

7No warranty#

Replayink is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. Keep your own copy of anything that matters: More… → Download as JSON exports a recording to a file you keep.

8Limitation of liability#

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of Replayink. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for Replayink in the twelve months before it, which for a free product is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

9Changes to these terms#

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change to what you may publish, or to what we may do with what you publish, will be announced in the extension's release notes on the Chrome Web Store before it takes effect.
